The BodyMind Meditation

The National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health  Defines mindfulness meditation as “a type of meditation that involves completely focusing on experiences on a moment to moment basis.”

If we are able to practice mindful meditation with movement, we can consciously connect our body to the processes of the mind. For example, when we invite the mind away from its usual fluctuations, the nervous system enters its parasympathetic state (rest & digest) which in turn, encourages the feeling of ease, closing this calming feedback loop.  The more we are able to dismiss intrusive, repetitive thoughts, the easier it is to enter a restful state. Body and mind are integrated.

When we are ready to begin a bout of physical activity, entering a calm state will make connecting with the body so much easier. When one later enters a more alert mode, these connections will remain.

Who knew that doing nothing could be so beneficial? However, as many of us know, doing nothing can be extremely difficult. The wellness industry has a whole subgenre dedicated to helping people downregulate. This new video was created to serve that exact purpose.

With my latest offering I sought to provide viewers with the opportunity to put their mind at ease and connect with their bodies for a duration of 10 minutes. You can watch the video, or listen and follow along. If you can, do both! The footage was taken over several cloudy days at the beach inlet in Ocean Ridge. A quiet passage along A1A that invites calm in ease with it’s beautiful seascape. Please enjoy!
