Your morning movement practice
If you are going to achieve excellence in big things, you develop the habit in little matters. Excellence is not an exception, it is a prevailing attitude.
Colin Powell
It is said that it takes 28 days to establish a habit but sometimes we don’t even know where to begin. We know we need to do something different. We want to feel better but might not even know what better is. Enter your morning ritual!
Yes, MORNING ritual. Not evening, not happy hour, morning: out of bed, before coffee, before you even really wake up when the mind is still a little “wobbly”. We want to do better but we might not even know what for, or what better even looks like. The thing is, and I speak here from experience, you will figure it out as you go along, but as long as you keep going. So before you step into work mode, parent-mode, etc. it’s going to be so helpful to take some time to reboot.
This can mean many things, maybe taking 5 mins in your garden for some mindful meditation, maybe feeding your pet with intention. Whatever it is, time you spend reconnecting with that spark deep within you, if even for a moment. By doing this with purpose, consistently (even on the days you don’t want to) you will be cultivating your first intentional positive habit. Do this once and again, there’s is nothing you can’t do when you set your mind to it!
For me, movement is a gateway for that reconnection to self. I’ve lived with this body my whole life! I created this video as an offering to anyone that would like to start a positive morning routine with movement. Let me know your thoughts and how else we can make our mornings great and our days amazing!
